The genus Raparia F.K. Mey. shows near connection to the wide distributed genus Noccaea Moench. But because of the strong and thick napiform root which is characteristic for the two species, it seems justifiable to separate the Raparia species from Noccaea, though the molecularbiological differences seem to be not so high. In this case Raparia only was poorly recognized by three cpDNA restriction site mutations. Raparia bulbosa (SPRUNER) F.K. Mey. grows in central Greece. The newly described subsp. aegaea F.K. Mey. was found on the island Ikaria. The very rare Raparia atlantica (BATT.) F.K. Mey. grows in northern mountains of Algiers.
