When Adanson 1763 published the genus Kandis he did not give a binary combination as the name for a species in this genus. He only cited two syntypes from the older literature which were put by LINNAEUS (1753) as synonyms under his Lepidium perfoliatum. Without any doubt these synonyms in fact belong to Lepidium perfoliatum which is the type of Kandis ADANS. 1993 a first binary combination under the name of the genus Kandis had been published by KERGUÉLEN. This Kandis perfoliata (L.) KERGUÉLEN only seems to be correct, but as basionym KERGUÉLEN did not use Lepidium perfoliatum L. but the Thlaspi perfoliatum L. and added to it as a synonym Microthlaspi perfoliatum (L.) F. K. MEY. The relationship from Lepidium perfoliatum to Thlaspi perfoliatum is far from taxonomic reality.
