Part of the German migration law is the implementation of so called integration courses for migrants as well as an additional qualification for the professors in charge of these integration courses. Besides on the knowledge of the German language the courses focus on the integration into the German society as an important aspect. The program underlines intercultural competence for the migrants as a significant goal to be achieved in the integration course. This article discusses the concept and the goals of the program and shows some aspects of its realization coming to the conclusion that on the whole the program has to be acknowledged as a first step in the right direction; however some improvements could help to make the program still more efficient as it is in the moment.
