Propagation of Piriformospora indica (Serendipitia indica) was carried out in a 10 litre bioreactor for obtaining sufficient biomass for formulation. The fungus was grown on 4% w/v Gur (Jaggery) as sole energy source. The formulated fungal mycelium (‘Rootonic’) was pelleted on paddy seeds (var. PUSA Basmati) and the resulting seedlings were grown under water flooded nursery conditions for four weeks before transfer to the field. Untreated seedlings served as control. Root colonization was assessed after 30 days. Growth parameters and yield were determined at maturity.
