On Spin 3/2 Fields in Space-Time with Torsion
A charged massiv matter field with spin 3/2 is described within the framework of the Riemann-Cartan geometry without applying the usual Rarita-Schwinger formalism. The 2-spinor special relativistic Fierz-Pauli equations for spin 3/2 are expressed in 4-spinor formalism. This leads to a spin Lagrangian equivalent to that of Rarita-Schwinger. The three pairs of 2-spinor equations turn out to be non equivalent and necessary for a complete description of a spin 3/2 field. The Riemann Cartan formulation of these equations reveals the origin of an inconsistence of their Riemann expression verified by H. A. Buchdahl: no symmetry of the 2-spinors must be supposed before applying a variation procedure.
