We investigate a subchannel which was separated by a cluster analysis and has the expected effective mass distributions, cross section, and angular distributions, but shows in the t-dependence of spin density matrix elements strong influence of another subchannel. A cluster analysis helps to answer the question of overlap in multidimensional space.
We warn against considering cuts as efficient means of separation if physical analysis relies upon angular distributions. The effects of overlap and interference are shown to be important in this case.
