On the Pulse Distortion in a Dye Laser with a Slow Saturable Absorber
The change of the intensity maximum of a pulse tripping round in a triangular resonator is investigated. The resonator contains a slow saturable absorber and a nonlinear dye amplifier. The pulse width is small compared to the longitudinal but much greater than the transversal relaxation times of absorber and amplifier. Especially the dependence of the pulse maximum on the number of round trips is given for the case that the initial pulse has a Gaussian, a secant hyperbolic, or a Lorentzian shape. To get the formulae the original pulses are decomposed to steadystate solutions of the basic equations.
The results are compared with computer solutions.
