The light propagation in media with inhomogeneous absorption is investigated by solving the wave equation in the approximation of very short wavelengths. The lowest order correction of the straight-on light propagation is given. In the approximation of light rays the near-field intensity of a light emitting diode (LED) is calculated by using a special absorption function within the region of light excitation.
