Interaction by gaseous way and development in higher plants

The interaction by gaseous way only between induced plants to flowering (Arabidopsis thaliana) and vegetative ones has been tested with a special device (three independent compartments). Vegetative A. thaliana are induced to flowering by the action of organic volatile compounds (VOC) emitted by full flowering plants. We cannot replace VOC with methyljasmonate vapors and the treatment with GA3 or GA1 methylester vapors provokes a more lesser effect of flowering time than VOC. It suggests the existence of specific VOC susceptible to induce the flowering. This could be of some interest in horticulture.
