First characterization of a urease repressor, induced by L-arginine, in the lichen Evernia prunastri

Thalli of Evernia prunastri, floated on 40mM L-arginine, produce a protein (molecular weight 167,000) which represses urease in the same lichen species. The repressor behaves as inactive against purified urease in vitro conditions and it shows to be a thermolabile protein.
