Jahrhunderts.
The largest joint project of Polish and German librarians to date was undertaken by libraries in Wroclaw (Breslau), Danzig (Gdansk), Poznan (Posen), Szczecin (Stettin), Warsaw and Munich. The budget of nearly 2,250,000 Euro was raised with grants from the Robert Bosch Foundation in Stuttgart and the Foundation for German-Polish Cooperation in Warsaw. The project involved the filming of over 40,000 early modern, and for the most part very rare manuscripts dating between 1501 and 1800 from Silesia (Schlesien), Pomerania (Pommern) and the east and west Prussian officinals, i.e. places in which German and Polish culture have overlapped each other over the course of centuries. In addition, the project has preserved Jewish and Yiddish periodical publications and newspapers from the 19th and early 20th century.
